fandom_empire | Fandom Rush 01.25

General Information
With your help, I have already built the fandom pool for this challenge => Google Sheet here. It's a great mixture of big fandoms and small fandoms, famous ones and unknown ones, coming from movies, TV shows, (video)games, anime/manga and general themes. But please be aware that not all of the fandoms in the pool will make it on the weekly playlists.

Fandom Rush will offer seven fandoms weekly (randomly chosen from the pool). These will be the active fandoms = the prompts for everyone participating!

At the end of every week, the three fandoms (in case of a tie, maybe more) with the least works will be removed from the active list, and new fandoms will be added.
If you want to ensure that an active fandom stays on the list for another week (maximum four!), create (more) works for it.
Every completed work will count, so, if you create one banner, two drabbles and one haiku for fandom A, this will count as four works for fandom A.

Designated Fandoms
When signing up, every participant will choose four to six designated fandoms.
A fandom can be designated to more than just one participant.
Every designated fandom is also part of the fandom pool.

If you find one or more of your designated fandoms on the weekly playlist, you must create at least one work for them. Otherwise, you will lose five points! After doing so, feel free to create works for other active fandoms.

If none of your designated fandoms are on the weekly playlist, you can use a wildcard to replace an active fandom with one of them.

Opt-out Fandoms
You can opt out of up to 12 fandoms from the fandom pool. If one of these fandoms appears on the weekly active list, you can play a different one from the Fandom Pool.
Already used fandoms are not allowed.
The chosen fandom is only valid for one week, no matter how many works you post for it.

Wildcards
At the beginning of the challenge, everyone will get six wildcards. Every wildcard can be used to replace one active fandom with a designated one.
The chosen fandom is only valid for one week, no matter how many works you post for it. If you want to use the fandom again next week, you must play another wildcard.
Every not-used wildcard will bring you two extra points at the end of the challenge.

Crossover Works
Crossover works (incl. fusions) are welcome, but there are some rules.
- You can combine two or more active fandoms / one active fandom + one inactive one (no red-marked fandoms) from the pool.
- The minimum for your work will duplicate, depending on the number of used fandoms (check out the 'minimum' info)
- One work will get counted for all active fandoms you use.

How to Play
Regular Challenge
The challenge starts on January 12 with the first active fandom list and will run for twelve weeks. The list will be updated every Sunday.

You will grab one or more fandom(s) from the active fandom list and create something for it.

If you find one of your opt-out fandoms on the active list, you can play a different one from the fandom pool instead. Already used fandoms are not allowed.

If you find one of your designated fandoms on the active list, you must create at least one work for it. Otherwise, you will lose five points!

If you want to use a designated fandom that is not on the current playlist, you can use a wildcard to replace an active fandom with the designated one of your choice.

There is no maximum of works. If you want an active fandom to stay on the list for another week, create (more) works for it. (Important: Opt-out fandoms and wildcard fandoms will always stay on the list for one week only, no matter how many works you create for them.)
The maximum number of regular points per week is 25; more points will not get counted, but all works (except fandoms chosen via wildcard/opt-out fandoms) count for their related fandom.
Feel free to mix up various characters and media types.
You can create single works for one to seven active fandoms.
You can combine two or more active fandoms in one work. Every fandom should be used to the same extent; the minimum will be adapted.

Additional Challenge
To participate here, you must create at least one work for the regular challenge.
There are two types of additional challenges:
1. Connected with the regular challenge = you don't have to create extra works for it but follow some requirements.
2. Create an additional work for a non-active fandom.
Every week comes with a new additional challenge.
The additional challenge is always optional. Play for extra points! Or simply ignore it.
You can play the additional challenge only once every week.

Minimum and Points
Minimum per work:
Fic: 100 words
Poems: 1 haiku or similar
Graphics: 1 icon

Minimum per crossover work:
Fic: 100 words x used fandoms
Poems: 1 haiku or similar x used fandoms
Graphics: 1 icon x used fandoms
Example: You write a crossover ficlet using three of the active fandoms. In this case, your minimum would be 300 words.

Regular Points:
Icons: every icon = 1 point
Fic: every 100 words = 2 point
Haiku (or similar): 3 lines only = 1 point
Poems: every 5 lines = 2 points
Small Graphics* = every graphic 2 points
Big Graphics* = every graphic 3 points

*small = e.g. sig tags, gifs, small banner
big = 500x800 px minimum - e.g. moodboard, Tumblr graphic, PC wallpaper

Important: Don't use a plain screenshot or stock photo without any editing.

Most Important Question
'I don't know any of the active fandoms this week. What now???'
Yes, I am aware of this 'problem'. But I prefer to see it as more of a challenge.

Remember that
1. When signing up, you can opt-out up to 12 fandoms. If one of these fandoms appears on the active list, you can choose a different one from the pool.

2. You have six wildcards. Every wildcard offers the chance to choose one of your designated fandoms instead of an active fandom.

3. Even if you don't know a fandom, you might be able to find some nice screenshots to create some icons or a small banner.

Catch up week
Week 13 is a catch-up week. You can only participate here when you have participated for at least six weeks in the challenge.
The final info will be posted in week 13.

Posting
Every work should be new and not be posted anywhere before. You may re-post / re-use it for other communities later.
Every work should be completed (no WIP; single chapters are okay as long as they work as stand-alone ficlets).
Every week, you can submit as many works as you want. Maximum regular points are 25.

You have seven days to post your finished works at

fandom_empire_workplace. The official posting ends every Sunday, 17.00 UTC; check out the weekly countdown. There will be a grace period until the week is finally called 'close'.

Regular Challenge
Make separate posts for every fandom.
If you create multiple small works for one fandom, sum them up in one post. You can post your works in places like AO3 or your writing journal and leave links only at the Empire Workplace.
Always note the fandom (and the number of single works) in the subject line.

All works created for the additional challenge, should be summed up in one post. Make a note like 'additional' in the subject line.

Rewards
There will be personalized banner/badges for 'most regular points', 'most points in total', 'every week's participation', 'most used fandoms' ... Additionally, I will offer a general participation banner for everyone.

This time, there will also be a special reward in the form of DW Points for the top three players. Keep an eye on the 'Total Highscore List'.
There will also be DW points for the participant using the most different fandoms - only participants not earning any DW points before will be considered here!
