Powerball 03.23 - General Information Post

Welcome to our third (last) challenge of the year 2023.



August 12 - August 26: Signing up period
August 27 - November 19: Challenge open
November 20 - November 26: Final score

Introduction
For this challenge, there will be lists for three categories:
1. General prompts
2. Additional prompt = themes + genres
3. Powerball

At the beginning of the challenge, you will choose your balls. Two balls between 1-50, one ball between 51-75, and one Powerball, color = blue, green, or red.

The lists will get shuffled around every week, and every prompt/powerball will get connected with a random number/color. Once the challenge starts (August 27), visit the playlist and find your first prompts.

Your mission is to create one or more works based on your general prompts.
Works can be fictional, original, or based on real persons.

Keep in mind, that these lists are sorted by alphabet and not connected with any numbers. You will find your weekly prompts on the playlist, posted every Sunday.

Signing up
Subscribe/join Fandom Empire (main community) to sign up for the challenge.

Sign up here for the challenge until August 26.

Please notice: If you are not a member of the fandom_empire_workplace yet, I will send you an invitation. Join the community because this is the place to post all your works.

Posting
All works should be new and not be posted elsewhere before. It's okay to use them for other challenges at the same time or to re-use them later.

Post your works at the fandom_empire_workplace.
Please make one main post only for every general prompt.
Always make a note in the subject line: WEEK x - MAIN.

If your main work consists of various single works, you are allowed to post them at other places like AO3 or your personal writing journal (unlocked until the end of the challenge). Make a final post at fandom_empire_workplace and link back to all of them.

When posting your entries, use a fitting header; don't forget to mention the prompt(s) you have used. Put bigger works and links under a cut.

Please tag your work at least with creator, fandom, and powerball23. Thank you.

Team Challenge
Because many people asked me to run the team challenge more often, here we go again. But don't worry; participation will stay optional. It is totally fine when you are not interested, though you will miss the chance to earn more points.

I noticed that slash/femslash is on the Additional Prompts list and there are a few of those I don't want to write/create with if I get them. Those are optional, right? The ones we need to do is the general prompts right?

Yes. Your main works should always be based on the general prompts. When you add the additional prompt to your work(s) (don't create a single work for them!), you can earn 5 more points for a main work, but this is optional.

Can participants join only on ao3 (not Dreamwidth)?

You can post all your works at AO3, but you will have to join fandom_empire_workplace to make your final post with links there.

I finished all the things I could for this weeks challenge but I wondered if there was anything I was missing out on that could give me or the team more points. I enjoyed this so much more than last week. Now, hopefully, I did everything right.

1-1200 word fic for the word Friends and used Supernatural prompt for it.
2- Another 860 word fic for the word At Work, using the suupernatural prompt.
Wildcard was used for first fic, half making it Friends.
Then I did two words for the team challenge Diamond and Elite.

I worked all day long and got all these done. I was so excited. Please tell me there is something more to do. LOL

Could you tell me what this would count as for a score. I'm still not sure about that.

Points you will get for your works
First main work: 6 points for the fic (maximum) + 5 points for using the additional point.
Second main work: 6 points for the fic (maximum) + 5 points for using the additional point.

You did two prompts for the team challenge = this brings you 2 individual points and also points for your team. (all team challenge points for card one will get counted after week 6)
