Fandom Rush 01.25 - Week 2

Welcome to week 2 of the Fandom Rush Challenge. Good luck to everyone!

Google Sheet Weekly Overview

The active fandoms for week 2 are:
1 Avengers (movies)
2 Frieren: Beyond Journey's End (manga / anime)
8 Gilmore Girls (TV original + remake)
9 Guardians of the Galaxy (movies)
4 SK8 The Infinity (anime)
7 Stargate / Stargate Atlantis / Stargate Universe (TV + movies)
10 Theater incl. Musical / Opera (movies based on it are fine)

If you find one of your opt-out fandoms on the active list, feel free to choose a different one from the fandom pool instead. Already used fandoms (marked red) are not allowed. Leave a comment here before you start creating.

If you find one or more of your designated fandoms on the active list, you must create at least one work for them. Otherwise, you will lose five points!

If you want to use a designated fandom that is not on the current playlist, you can use a wildcard to replace an active fandom with the designated one of your choice. Leave a comment here before you start creating.


The additional challenge for week 2 is connected with the regular challenge. You don't have to create extra works. However, you are welcome to do so if you want.

Create something for one or more active fandoms. If you use the prompts 'black', 'book', 'dance', you will earn some additional points.
You can use every prompt only once!
You will earn two additional points for every prompt you use.

Short reminder of the rules
You can choose one to seven fandoms from the list to create something for it.

There is no maximum of works; the maximum number of weekly regular points is 25.

The additional challenge is optional. Play for extra points! Or simply ignore it. You can play the additional challenge only once every week. Don't forget to mark your work as 'additional' when posting it!

Important! Please Read
I have made two small changes to the rules (none affects the previous week!)
1. If you find more than one of your designated fandoms on the active list, you must create at least one work for one fandom to avoid demerits.

2. Every active fandom can stay on the list for a maximum of four weeks. After this, it will be replaced, no matter the created works.

I think those are good changes - we have a lot of fandoms on the list and most won't get the chance, but removing the popular ones after a few weeks gives a few more an opportunity.

Yes, I realized a bit late that maximum weeks are a good idea for various reasons. And because we are only in week two, I decided to make this small chance of the rules.

The addional challenge is based on active fandoms only this week. All works created will count for the regular challenge. If using one or more of the given prompts in a work you will get 2 extra points for each used prompt.

It's okay to use the 'marvel' tag.

If I were to write, say, 1000 words of a work, and then create an additional challenge work with the theme 'dance' that is 300 words, would my total for the week be 25 points for word count and 2 points for using the theme 'dance'? Or would it only be 20 + 2?

This week, you can use active fandoms only. All works created count for the regular challenge. If one of these works is also based on one or more additional prompts, you will get the extra points.

So, in your case:
Work 1 1000 words for an active fandom = 20 points
Work 2 300 words for an active fandom + 'dance' = 6 points + 2 extra points.
In total 25 regular points + 2 additional points.

I read the answers to the comments here and confused myself, because I also misunderstood the way the additional prompts work in this week. Meaning I wrote a fic already, which does not contain the prompts but is already enough to get me 25 points. I was planning on using the additional prompts in other works for other fandoms. Can I do that to get those extra points? Or do they then not count anymore because I'm not getting regular points for them because I've already gotten them? Should I not post the fic at all but only the additional works?

For the regular challenge, there is a maximum of 25 points but no maximum of works. So, yes, you can post your fic even if you decide to create some more works for the additional prompts.

Just keep in mind:
- you can only use active fandoms this week!
- the works will count for the used fandom!
- you won't get more regular points when you have already reached the maximum
- you will get the additional points (2 for every used prompt)

Sorry to add to the questions, but the additional prompts can be used for different works, right? Such as work 1=black, for active fandom A, and work 2=dance, active fandom B?

No need to be sorry for any question. Yes, the prompts can be used in any possible way, as long as you use an active fandom. Create one work using all of them. Three works, using one fandom. Three works for three different fandoms. Or anything between.

Avengers is one of my opt-out fandoms. I would like to change it to Bleach.

If I do the additional challenge, is it okay to still use Bleach?

Yes. If you change an opt-out fandom, your chosen fandom counts as active for you.

"Guardians of the Galaxy (movies)" is one of my opt-out fandoms.

I would like to use "Jujutsu Kaisen" instead.

Sk8 is one of my opt-outs, changing it to Hitman Jurassic Park! :D

You can use designated fandoms. ;) Only already used fandoms (marked red in the fandom pool) are not allowed.

I'll keep that in mind for next week, when I need to swap out Sk8 again lol

I've noticed it, that yes, there was a mistake in the rules. It's changed now. Sorry for the confusion.
