Because I am not home this Sunday, we will have a reduced playlist for week five at the beginning. I will add the gaming cards on Monday or Tuesday.

If you are stuck with your given prompt(s), remember that you can use a wildcard (3 in total) at any time. Leave a comment on this post with:
Option 1: Remove an additional block tile (water lily). After doing so, choose your weekly number and start creating.
or
Option 2: Remove a number of your choice = both tiles will get removed, whether they are blocked or not. In this case, you can't choose a weekly number from your card, but you will get two random prompts from the general prompt list.

Sorry I might be misunderstanding, and I guess it doesn't matter because I planned on doing 3 next, but I thought I'd also have 17 open?

For the additional challenge, can we use the words we claimed for week 4, or do we have to claim them again (or others)?

Feel free to use the prompts you have already claimed. Actually, you don't even have to leave a comment with the prompt(s) you want to use this week. But most people do so because it is easier to see which prompts have already been done.

I think I have 9 and 17 open as well as 5 and 14. If not can you help me understand why? I’m not familiar with the rules of mahjong.

The tiles 9 + 17 are still blocked by a waterlily block tile. You can remove waterlilies by using a wildcard. 1 wildcard = 1 waterlily. Because all tiles with 9 or 17 are blocked by a waterlily, you would need 2 wildcards to play either 9 or 17.
